Sustainability and green building techniques are incorporated into our residential construction and home building. Our building designs are oriented appropriately for topography, day lighting and renewable energy where practical. We make every effort during site work to protect trees and topsoil, filter storm water on site and use native plants and existing landscape where possible. In terms of our building envelope, Castle & Cooke uses optimum insulation and high performance windows and for energy efficiency state-of-the art lights and appliances are installed. We use local and regional materials that are durable and low maintenance. Construction waste is minimized and recycled materials are used to the greatest extent possible. Water conservation is increased through the use of water efficient fixtures and appliances and indoor environments are healthier by providing natural ventilation and the use of least toxic finishes and materials.
